Wedding Photography — Also Hiring A Videographer To Capture Your Big Day

Filed under: Photography, Projects, Showings — Admin @ 12:25 am

By Christine OKelly

Capturing the emotions of a marriage ceremony and the celebration that follows helps to document the event in order to reminisce and savor it later. Traditionally, wedding photographers have played an integral role in recording the spontaneous emotions of the respective parties and guests. Over the past few years, hiring a professional videographer to chronicle the day has become popular. The price of the equipment has declined, leading to lower hiring costs. Plus, the ceremony and reception can be recorded in different formats, including DVD, Blue Ray, or HD (high definition) DVD.

Today, we’ll explain some of the factors you’ll need to keep in mind when hiring a videographer for your big day. We’ll explore why hiring a friend or family member isn’t wise and whether your videographer can work smoothly with your wedding photographers.

The Drawbacks Of Choosing A Friend

If your budget is severely limited, hiring a friend to video your ceremony may be your only cost-effective option. That said, it’s worth noting that a professional will use the highest-quality equipment and have an intimate understanding about the placement of multiple cameras and microphones. If you hire a friend to do the job, you might be forced to sacrifice the quality of the video as well as the storytelling element. Even worse, a friend may not know how to stay out of your wedding photographers’ way while filming.

Clearing The Path Before The Event

Some venues will have strict rules against filming inside their buildings. Before you hire your videographer, call each of the locations that will be hosting you, your party, and your guests. For example, plan to speak with the church at which your ceremony will be held, the restaurant that will host your rehearsal dinner, and the reception hall. Get written permission from each of them.

Book An Early Reservation

There are more professionals who offer wedding photography services than there are those who provide videography. As a result, it’s not uncommon for a talented videographer to be booked for several months in advance. Reserve their services early. Also, keep in mind that each venue will offer different acoustics, light, and space. Unlike wedding photographers who can easily move around a floor to capture the best shots, some of the equipment that videographers use will be stationary. The earlier you can book their services, the earlier they can explore the venues they’ll be working in. That way, they can identify the best places to set up their equipment.

Can They Work Together?

Wedding photographers want to capture perfect moments. In order to do so, they watch for ideal positioning that provides them with photojournalistic opportunity. A videographer has similar goals. The best moments on video erupt from spontaneity and require quick movement in order to take advantage of them. If the professionals whom you hire are unaccustomed to working with each other, their respective goals can cause problems. As soon as you book their services, encourage them to contact one another so they can plan a strategy for staying out of each other’s way.

The Ideal Choice

A lot of wedding photographers work with the same videographers on a regular basis. As a result, they’ve developed a strategy that allows each to do their jobs well without affecting the other person. In fact, some wedding photography companies can provide teams that handle both tasks fluidly. They can visit the church, restaurant, and reception hall ahead of time and formulate a plan that allows them to tell their respective stories in a way that complements each other. When the time comes to hire your wedding photographers and videographer, you’ll have the comfort of knowing that they’re documenting one of the most important events in your life with the quality you deserve.

Social networks replacing photo sharing and printing web sites?

Filed under: Photography, Projects, Showings — Admin @ 3:10 am

By Deann Keith

It used to be that the only way to share online photos was by using a few photo printing sites that also allowed uploading and sharing of photos. But with many new kind of web sites specially social networking web sites new ways are now available for sharing of photo moments.

In the early days of the Internet when bandwidth was limited and storage expensive the options for sharing digital photos online were limited. You could use a few professional photo album web sites but they had to charge for their service since there was no business model that allowed them to provide that service for free. Advertisement back then generated less money than today and could not cover their bandwidth and storage cost.

The alternative to professional photo sharing web sites was to use one of the few photo printing web sites. These sites allow upload of photos for the purpose of ordering photo prints. Since uploading and short term storage of photos was needed for their photo printing service those sites could also offer photo sharing as a free added value service to their users that would attract more photo printers to their service and would also promote their brand name. Most of those web sites however only allowed photo sharing for a limited time basically meaning that photos uploaded to the site would be automatically deleted after a certain number of days usually 14 or 30 days.

As technology advanced the cost of bandwidth and storage dropped significantly. Today it is sometimes said that bandwidth the storage are literally free when measured on a per item or in our case per digital photo basis. The cost of building a service that allows users to upload an infinite number of photos and have them stored indefinitely on a server is manageable. Advertisement based business models can support the cost of such a service. It is not surprising that today there is a very large number of web sites offering free photo albums and photo sharing.

Social networks are one of the more used photo sharing web sites today. Although not their main feature photo sharing is part of the social interaction. Users can create photo albums and share them with the public or with their family and friends. Storage is infinite and photo albums are stored forever on a safe backed up server system.

The good old photo printing web sites found themselves in competition with many photo sharing web sites. In order to be able to keep up with the competition photo printing web sites today offer very complex photo album features. For example many offer server based photo processing allowing digital photo cropping and other effects like red eye removal. They have also tried to cooperate with the competition by providing what they know to provide best simply printing services. By integrating with other web sites they allow social media web sites for example to provide a print now option next to each photo that basically behind the scenes communicates back with their photo printing partner.

Gearing Up To Make Your Photographs Art

Filed under: Photography, Projects, Showings — Admin @ 4:10 pm

By Sebastian Marders

Photography is like preparing for a battle, you need to suit up with all the necessary equipment in order to fight your way into producing a fine piece of art. It begins with a good camera. The camera is your number one friend upon entering the visual world of photography. It is the lifeline of your endeavor. SLR and digital cameras are the popular choices for this.

SLR or single-lens cameras require film and need more manual operation to construct your picture. The shutter speed and focal point need to be adjusted in order to facilitate a one click shot. The digital camera on the other hand stores photos in memory, and provides more convenience as it automatically arranges settings that will match the preference of the photographer.

Let’s now proceed to the highlight of your shooting event. Once you have chosen the perfect camera, all that’s left is to get to it. Conceptualize the theme and subject of your project. It is advisable to determine your focus because this will provide the guideline of your shoot. What kind of shot are you going to make? Who and what are your subjects? When and where will it take place? A solid idea of all this is essential from the start.

Lighting is very important in the midst of the shoot. For the SLR, it is recommended to shoot between the hours of ten in the morning until three in the afternoon. The lighting conditions in this time are conducive to balancing the tone and color of the image. Moreover, there is a better probability to hit the right exposure for the picture.

On the other hand, digital cameras do not highly depend on this provision due to the built-in flash and light exposure settings that cater to the predilection of the photographer. The addition of tripod is essential, especially when you are fostering a portrait shot and a slower shutter speed to prevent blurriness.

The best pictures are taken by a person who is knowledgeable about the rule of thirds in photography. It is more appropriate to position your subject not on the center of your frame. It speaks of imaginary lines inside your framework. For a more professional result, the subject should not touch the middle lines.

In addition to following this principle, pay attention to the balance of your lighting and crispness of your subject. Also study the images around your viewfinder, and eliminate unnecessary entities. Strive to have a clean presentation of subjects.

Timeliness and organization are desirable to produce a good picture. Any individual who wishes to confine an attractive image to the page is obligated to learn the basics of photography. Practice is a must.

A trial and error phase should be experienced to master the fine art of photography. Do not be lazy, but instead focus on every shoot and take astounding photos. It is an unstoppable desire that will ultimately hone your ability to generate a legacy. Photographs will always be a part of our lives to one extent or another. It’s up to you to push it to the level of an art form. Now get out there and delight in experimenting in the ways to improve your skill and take the best photographs you can.

The Art and Service of Video Production

Filed under: Photography, Projects, Showings — Admin @ 4:13 am

By Rokai Kolam

Professional video production, also known as videography, is the process of capturing and editing moving images on electronic media to produce and distribute a finished video product. The range of its coverage has resulted to various market segmentation based on application specifically corporate video, event video and broadcast video.

Corporate video includes productions made for corporation communication, videotaping conferences and conventions, education and training as well as sales conferences. This type of production can either be viewed live in-person or live remotely. A live video feed from a speaker as shown on a large projection screen is an example of a live in-person viewing. Viewing a live video stream from computers with Internet connection or web casting exemplifies what live remote is all about.

Event video covers events such as wedding, sporting events and other events held at venues such as church, stage, school, among others. Productions such as these can be custom-made for specific individuals or specific groups of individuals. Broadcast video is a cheaper alternative to the usual commercials of broadcast television. It can also be product advertisements or promotions displayed on monitors at tradeshows.

A corporate video provides the opportunity for businesses to introduce themselves through DVD and the web. It can present to the viewers various propositions such as who makes up the company, what products and services are being offered, the work ethics of the company and feedback from existing customers. A company image is created depending on the style of shooting done by a video production service. Modifications and changes are easily done to suit an entirely different audience as a standard sales promotion can be fitted for staff induction use.

Selling an idea is best achieved through video. It provides the best form of communication and the most prudent investment. All video productions start out with initial talks between the organization and the service provider, to be followed by several face-to-face meetings wherein what the video production hopes to achieve is clearly established. Product research and script treatment will further establish how the client wants his product information treated by the service provider. Actual production would include the preparation of the company, employees and managers as well as all other details that would expedite production and avoid costly delays.

A talented team of professionals heads one of the most reliable video production companies by the name of Snap Focus Productions. With Aimee Nuzo as the Executive Producer and Robert Cantwell as Creative Director, these two co-founders strive to offer both creative and innovative video services at very affordable rates. Broadcast quality production is created by a respected television news reporter and 4-time award winning editor/producer and videographer. Requirements for commercials, event coverage, presentations, streaming video, music videos and full service broadcast quality TV are ably addressed by Snap Focus Productions.

Snap Focus Productions professional services come at highly competitive rates because they would want to encourage prospective clients to try their distinguished brand of service. Operating in a home-office in New Jersey assures clients that they are only paying for excellent products and not the overhead cost.

Olympus has done it again with the new Digital SLR evolt e510

Filed under: Photography, Projects, Showings — Admin @ 4:31 am

By Deann Keith

It is hard to find digital SLR cameras with the same high end features as the Digital SLR evolt e510 at an affordable low price. Digital SLR cameras with both an image stabilizer and live LCD view dont come at the Digital SLR evolt e510 price tag.

For a price around $500 the Olympus Evolt E510 has features only found in high end cameras costing in the thousand dollars and more. Two of those features are an image stabilizer allowing taking photos with high zoom lenses and in conditions when camera movements can not be avoided and a live LCD view allowing composing photos when the optical view finder is useless.

An image stabilizer is a rare feature in entry level $500 price range digital SLR cameras. In short an image stabilizer allows taking pictures when camera movements are unavoidable or when such movements are amplified for example when using a high zoom lens. The image stabilizer is an electro-mechanical optical element either in the camera lens or in the camera body that identifies and compensates for camera movements. Without an image stabilizer many photos taking at extreme conditions would come out blurry and useless.

An image stabilizer can be implemented in two ways. It can be implemented as an optical feature built into the lens or as a feature built into the camera body. When implemented in the les the image stabilizer is a combination of a gyro and a floating optical element. The gyro identifies and tracks any camera movement and directs the floating optical element to compensate and balance that movement. The image stabilizer built into the camera body is implemented as an electro-mechanical mechanism that actually moves the image CCD sensor to compensate for movements. There are advantages and disadvantages to each implementation. Usually the optical in-lens solution is considered of higher quality as it can be perfectly tuned to the specific lens. The in-body implementation however has a tremendous cost advantage and it is not surprising that the Olympus Evolt E510 uses it. It is both cheaper to implement but also because it is built into the camera body you can enjoy image stabilization with any lens that you use.

In other words if you want image stabilization in every lens you use, with the Olympus Evolt E510 you can it at the cost of one image stabilizer mechanism in the camera while with in-lens image stabilization you will have to pay again and again for each lens.

Live LCD view is the second great feature of the Olympus Evolt E510. Digital SLR cameras use a single lens reflex mechanism and usually only allow using the optical view finder to compose pictures. The LCD screen is only used for menu settings and for reviewing the pictures taken but it can not use to view a live feed of what the camera is looking at and for composing and taking new photos. With live LCD view a special optical mechanism allows some of the light to be used by the camera sensor to feed the LCD thus providing both the optical view finder and the LCD as possible picture composition tools. With live LCD view you can use the Olympus Evolt E510 to compose pictures in situation where the optical view finder is useless for example when taking photos of a crowd while holding the camera high over your head with both your hand stretched.
