Why Camera Phones Will Not Work With Digital Photo Printing

Filed under: Photography, Projects, Showings — Admin @ 5:45 pm

By Alex Don

Now it has become a standard in the consumer electronics industry to include a digital camera or digital photo capability in many products. The reason is to add value or a feature to the product so that it will be attractive to the buyers. A good example is the recent introduction of camera phones of reputed brands. So, one could take photos and share it with others online easily. However, it is important to note when it comes to digital photo printing there are many issues that one should know before hand to ensure high quality photo prints.

1.Pre-requisite for Digital Printing

It is well known fact that camera phones are ever becoming popular and are increasingly capable of taking decent photos. However, the images stored in camera phone are still not suitable for digital photo printing because of several shortcomings. Which we are going to explain later. If you intend to use your camera photo to take pictures which will be processed using digital photo printing, you have to take into account of the following:

2.The Image Quality Depends on Number of Pixels

The image quality of camera phones is very much less than a digital camera. Many of these phones have 1.3 megapixel resolutions. However, today you can buy camera phones with 3 megapixel. The 3 megapixel is equivalent to 3 million pixels per inch. The more pixels per inch means higher the resolution or the quality of the image. For quality digital printing its better to use camera with high resolution instead of camera phone which do not have the same capacity. This is because of the small size and limited capacity of camera phones. For example, high resolution digital image files can be quite large, as such storing many such images to phone will be limited to one or two due to its low memory capability.

3.High resolution needed for digital printing

So many manufacturers use a lower resolution in their phones which do not allow more images to be stored. Consequently, it does affect the results of digital photo printing. This is the main reason that camera phones cannot produce images that are of high quality or resolution for digital photo printing. For instance, a 4×6 print that was taken with a camera phone will be unclear and more or less unusable. If the same size print that was taken with a high resolution digital camera will certainly be much clearer and of higher quality.

In summing up, it can be expected that camera phones are much convenient to take instant or quick photography and sharing these online. They are definitely not suitable for digital photo printing. It is most prudent to use a digital camera with high mega pixel if you really want to take quality photos that will be digitally printed. In other words, if one is looking for quality photos, he has to go for either higher pixel point and shoot digicam or Digital SLR. It all depends on your preference and liking.

Getting away with free digital photo printing

Filed under: Photography, Projects, Showings — Admin @ 5:45 pm

By Deann Keith

There are many ways to print digital photos. You can buy a simple inkjet printer and print low quality photo prints at home. or you can buy a digital photo printer like the Canon Pixma which uses special photo paper and print high end quality photo prints at home. Home photo printing has advanced a lot in the latest years and currently relatively low cost home printers using special photo paper can yield high end photo prints that look like professional digital photo prints.

The problem with home photos is that it does cost money to print them. The expenses do not end with buying the printer. Good quality photo paper is expensive and also the ink used by the printer. In fact many digital photo printers are pretty cheap to buy. The real cost is buying expensive ink cartridges and expensive paper on a regular basis.

So if you do not want to go into the expense and trouble of getting home digital photo printing equipment the other alternative is to use one of the many brick and mortar or online photo printing services. Most services provide a wide range of products from printing standard size 4 by 6 inches photo prints to special printing jobs such as printing your digital photos on coffee mugs as gifts or memorabilia. Many photo printing services are also relatively cheap to use and for sure affordable.

To use an online photo printing service you would normally upload your digital photo files to the service servers. After upload the digital photo files you can usually apply some image processing such as rotating images cropping images removing red eye from images and more. You would then choose the photos that you would like to print and the photo prints size and other characteristics and submit the order. When the prints are ready they are mailed to you through one of many delivery services from rush overnight to standard and slow regular mail. The cost of shipping can be significant though when printing large quantities shipping becomes more and more negligible.

There is however a way to get your prints completely free. Many digital photo printing services offer trial prints some as low as 10 prints but a few other services as high as 50 or 100 photo prints. Some services would also provide free shipping although it is more common to be charged some minimal fee for the shipping cost only. Snapfish for example provides such a service letting new users try the service for free printing up to 50 digital prints. If you are not printing frequently you can take advantage of these free offers. You can get hundreds of free photo prints if you apply for free trials with many services taking advantage of the maximum free prints each one provides.

Four Roads To Photography - What Is Your Type?

Filed under: Photography, Projects, Showings — Admin @ 7:35 pm

By Sebastian Marders

People, Nature, Documentary or Commercial, what type do you prefer? These are the four well-known areas of photography. Evidence o them resides in the streets, television, books, magazines, newspapers, buildings, studios and walls of the metro. Name all the places in the world and pictures are there, regional identities that never go out of fashion.

A picture tells a thousand words. A thousand pictures tell a lifetime. Photography is the principal conveyor of knowledge these days. Everything has a meaning, from the equipment to the subject. It is a language that can be easily understood regardless of race and ethnicity. No words are needed just an ardent sense of sight reveals the true meaning of the photograph.

So, what is the best form of photography?

People - This kind of photography concentrates on the very word itself. It is subdivided into many branches. First, there is the candid undertaking that we have all taken part in, the typical snapshots of ordinary people, no composition. Just a plain pose and a click.

The next level of this deals with portraits. These are usually completed inside a studio, with full camera gear. Portraits are shots of individuals in a maximum depth, commonly a close-up photo of a person, together with a background. Weddings and Sports are also included in this category of photography.

Nature - This deals with scenic places, landscapes, and animals. The camera is normally held horizontally when taking this kind of photo. Usually, the entirety of the elements inside the frame are captured to flaunt the wideness and view of the subject. Photographers use this shot outdoors, because it requires actual locations like mountains, hills, rivers and seas.

Documentary - This is the serious side of photography. It tackles the issues of politics, society and history. The action of the subject involved is the main focus for the reason that these photos should inform the viewer of the genuine scenario of a current event. It is the medium of journalism, news and current affairs. It renders public service and exposes anomalies.

Commercial - In this last variety, photographers concentrate on advertising and product launching. The models vary from food, soap, deodorant, whitening products, and countless other materials that are marketed for profit. An attractive presentation is considered necessary to entice consumers to avail themselves of the products. It is a sort of photography that garners a higher wage because of the demand for it, and because of the nature of the clients involved.

At this instant, upon discovering the wide array available to you in the area of photography, which one will you perform? Keep in mind that photography is made for all of us. Many choices are available for people who want to commit their fervor to photography. It is not merely an amusement, but a profession. It is a breeding ground for insight and modernization. As much as possible, practice all forms of it to highlight your forte.

Sebastian Marders loves writing about a variety of things and sharing the website that inspires each piece with his readers. If you are interested in browsing a selection of cheap digital cameras, as well as the cheap digital Sony camera, and the Canon digital camera cheap then please visit.

The good and bad in the Evolt 510 Digital SLR

Filed under: Photography, Projects, Showings — Admin @ 7:35 pm

By Deann Keith

The new Evolt 510 is a great camera for its price. Continuing on Olympus successful Evolt 410 the Evolt 510 brings more features and fixes some bugs found in the Evolt 410. Here are some random good and bad things found in the Evolt 510.

There is no doubt that two of the good things about the Evolt 510 are its well spoken of features the image stabilizer and the live LCD view. The image stabilizer implemented in the Evolt 510 is an in-body image stabilizer that can work with any lens that is mounted on the camera. Although not the same quality as gyro-optical based in lens image stabilizer the Evolt 510 image stabilizer can help turning many of those blurry photos into sharp and crisp professionally looking digital photos.

The live LCD view on the other hand will help you take pictures in conditions where the optical view finder can not be used. There are many angles and compositions that can be very compelling and are executed with the camera far form your face and your eyes. With the live LCD view you can now hold the camera farther from your body while composition a photo by simply looking at the live video stream on the camera color LCD screen.

One of the problems with the Evolt 510 is the lack of a focus ring or focus buttons on the lens. Many times when you have to use manual focus using a focus ring is the natural thing to do. The next best thing are buttons on the lens. Both are not available with the Evolt 510.

Another Evolt 510 problem is its interface to the advanced features. If you are a professional photographer and need to often set the advanced features then the Evolt 510 is not your best choice as you would waste time going through many menus. It would have been nice if the Evolt 510 had macros or shortcuts to get to those settings.

The Evolt 510 also has problems with white balancing. In extreme conditions the camera white balance can be off and result in wrong colors. The Evolt 510 auto focus is slow and although the focus eventually is set right the slowness can be annoying and sometimes you might be losing a photo opportunity.

The Evolt 510 is bigger than its ancestor the Evolt 410 and also has an additional grip which makes holding it easier and taking pictures more stable. The extra grip is also rubber coated which further helps in keeping the camera stable. One of the weird design flaws of the Evolt 510 is that its weight is not balanced. When holding the camera it feels like it is leaning to the side where the battery and memory card are. Although it sounds like a minor problem when using the digital Evolt 510 SLR for a long day of photo shooting this can get annoying and after a whole day of work also put more stress on your hand as it needs to constantly compensate for that imbalance.
