A Shooting In London

So in this age of global terror and the rise in gun crime in London, you’d be let off for believing that this would be along the lines of such subject matter. But no, I’m not talking about the sort of shooting you’re undoubtedly thinking about…

Shoot Experience are an energetic and innovative photography events company who, believe it or not, are niched in photographic scavanger hunts! One of there bigger events is based in the Tate Modern gallery in London. It is used as a corporate team building exercise (as well as for the general public) albeit a long and creatively demanding one from what it seems.

People get there in the morning and are put into groups, each team being issued a camera. They are then given 10 themed clues which they follow throughout the city with the task of creating their own answers through the visual medium of, yes, you guessed it, camera pictuers. Theyre also given a deadline to return by nightfall where the pictures are judged and prizes are issued for the best and most original pictures. Participants can relax back at the Tate with a drink as the winners are chosen. They even get to have their work showcased at an exhibition at the Tate!

The fun filled event is a winner with corporate companies and the general public, and one where according to Shoot Experience themselves is “breaking boundaries, improving communication and providing an accessible and artistic platform for discussion and interaction”. And who are we to argue with their track record of rave revues in The Metro, The London Paper, London Lite, The Times, Timeout, Contact, Reach as well as an array of other online review sites.

The company is the brain child of South African born Brett Jefferson Stott who created the company in 2006. Brett is a photographer, musician, web designer and entrepreneurial extroadinaire who in the past has had his music featured on UK National radio and his photos in Time Out and the SA Times amongst other well known magazines. Through his passion for the visual arts he has created the Shoot experience to Encourage people to rediscover their everyday environment and lives through photography.

The Shoot projects are not just exclusively at the Tate Modern and are held all around London, other parts of the UK. The company have recently gone global too with events in Toronto, Delhi and Ouaga.

Alexandra Holland was born in Austria but came to London to study Photography at The Royal College of Art. It was here that she was offered her first article writing opportunity by a friend. She has since then had her photography featured in many London galleries and magazines including Time Out, The London Paper and other numerous online companies.. Visit A Shooting In London.
